What is Facial Cupping?
Facial cupping is a gentle, non-invasive treatment with roots in ancient Eastern healing traditions, where cupping has been used for centuries as part of traditional approaches to health and wellbeing.
Today, facial cupping has become a beautiful way to care for the skin and facial tissues, combining traditional techniques with a gentle modern approach to facial wellbeing.
Key benefits
Nourished & Revitalised Skin: Encourages circulation and oxygen flow to the skin, helping to revitalise the complexion and leave it looking fresh, luminous and radiant.
Sculpted & Defined Appearance: By encouraging lymphatic drainage and reducing puffiness, facial cupping can help to enhance the natural contours of the face, jawline and neck, creating a more defined appearance.
Facial Tension Release: Gentle myofascial massage helps to release tension held within the facial muscles and connective tissue, particularly around the jaw, forehead and eyes, leaving the face feeling softer and more relaxed.
Smoother Skin & Refined Texture: Regular treatments can help support healthy connective tissue, soften the appearance of fine lines and improve the overall texture and tone of the skin.
Holistic Wellbeing: Facial reflexology works through reflex points on the face to support the body on a deeper level, whilst the treatment as a whole provides valuable time to slow down, relax and reconnect.
Facial Cupping is particularly effective when enjoyed as a course of treatments, allowing us to work progressively with the skin, lymphatic system and facial tissues. Following your initial course, regular maintenance treatments can help sustain these benefits.
How does Facial Cupping work?
Small, flexible silicone cups are gently applied to the skin to create a light suction. As the cups are carefully glided across the face and neck, they encourage blood flow towards the surface of the skin and stimulate movement within the underlying tissues.
This increased circulation helps to bring oxygen and nutrients to the skin, whilst the gentle suction and movement encourage lymphatic flow. The treatment can also help to release tension within the facial muscles and connective tissue, leaving the face feeling softer, lighter and more relaxed.
Facial cupping also creates gentle stimulation within the skin, supporting the body's natural processes of renewal and repair. With regular treatments, this can help support healthy collagen and elastin production, whilst encouraging the skin to feel more supple, plump and revitalised.
The result is a treatment that works on more than just the surface. Facial cupping can help refresh your complexion, reduce puffiness, release facial tension and support the skin's natural vitality, leaving you with a healthy, radiant glow.
Unlike traditional body cupping, facial cupping uses much smaller cups and a significantly gentler technique, making it particularly suited to the delicate tissues of the face and neck.
Facial Cupping at Perfect Balance
What makes this treatment truly unique is the combination of facial cupping, facial reflexology and gentle myofascial massage, creating a deeply restorative experience that works not only on the skin, but also on the underlying tissues, and your overall sense of wellbeing.
Facial Reflexology works to support the body on a deeper holistic level and will be tailored to your specific needs. Myofascial Massage is a specialised technique that is used to work with the fascia, the connective tissue surrounding the muscles and other structures of the face. This can help release areas where tension is commonly held, particularly around the jaw, forehead and eyes, leaving the face feeling softer and more relaxed.
Together, these techniques create a truly indulgent and restorative treatment, working on the skin, lymphatic system, fascia and facial reflex points.
Facial Cupping Course
For those wanting to experience lasting results I offer a discounted course of 12 sessions. This approach allows the benefits of Facial Cupping to build cumulatively.
I recommend either:
2 treatments per week for 6 weeks
3 treatments per week for 4 weeks
These options allow you to choose a schedule that feels comfortable to you and works naturally around your routine. Once you have completed your initial course, maintenance treatments are recommend every 4 - 6 weeks.
Although a course of treatments provides the opportunity to take a more consistent approach to your facial wellbeing, you don't need to commit to a course to enjoy the benefits of Facial Cupping. Individual treatments will still provide you with all the key benefits.
Will Facial Cupping Leave Marks?
One of the most common questions Iām asked about facial cupping is whether it will leave bruising or visible marks on the skin.
Visible cupping marks are uncommon with facial cupping because the small, flexible silicone cups used are specifically designed for the delicate tissues of the face and are very different from the larger cups used for body cupping.
Temporary pinkness or redness may occur and is a normal response known as acute local hyperaemia, where increased blood flow is brought to the area being treated. It's a positive part of the treatment, helping to bring oxygen and nutrients to the tissues. Any redness should naturally settle within a few minutes to a few hours.
Everyone responds differently and although uncommon, a small amount of bruising or a temporary cupping mark can occasionally occur, particularly in individuals who are more prone to bruising or if it's the first time your skin is experiencing Facial Cupping. If you do experience a mark, please don't be alarmed as it is temporary and will fade naturally.
Facial cupping for the first time, I recommend allowing at least 48 hours before an important event, just to give your skin plenty of time to settle and ensure you feel completely confident about your appearance.
Your comfort and safety are always my priority. I will assess your skin and suitability before treatment and adapt the pressure and techniques accordingly. A consultation and consent form will also be completed before your first facial cupping treatment.
If your skin shows an unexpected or significant reaction during treatment, I will stop immediately and assess the area.
